Summer Dressing for Mums

I love summer as much as the next person, but dressing for it can be tricky.  No longer will my 'jeans and...' uniform work, summer calls for cooler dressing.  But cooler needn't mean more difficult and the solution?  Throw on a dress, stick on some sandals and go for it.  But to avoid looking Sandra-from-Grease pre-makeover i.e. not too mumsy, go for a modern cut in a timeless material.

Enter the demin Georgia dress, £45 from Oasis.

Just to be clear - this isn't me (sadly!).  Image taken from

The loose fit and light denim fabric make this the ideal dress for balmy days, perhaps a little cooler than the 34 degrees we were experiencing last week, so perfect for the 25 of this week.  With the sleeves rolled up to the elbow and the belt tied loosely to give shape, the button down style gives the right amount of 'looking like you tried' without actually trying too hard.

My pick for this dress is either the shoes that are perfect for mums, or these gorgeous Gladiators from River Island, a steal at just £18, down from £28.
